Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision prepare construction submittal drawings for system installation to support the branch offices.

 

Essential Position Functions:

 

·         Responsible for working with the Application Specialists to design building systems such as Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, Sound, Clocks, and Nurse Call Systems.

·         Using AutoCAD to prepare project submittal drawings that include device placement plans, riser diagrams, electrical interconnection drawings, device circuit wiring, control cabinet layouts, voltage drop calculations, and battery calculations.

·         Receive project assignments from project engineering staff.

·         Maintain project drawing files, and associated records and documentation in an orderly condition.

·         Operate and maintain CAD equipment, plotter, and printers.

·         Perform other system configurations/calculations in accordance with project specifications and other project documentation as directed by project engineering.

 

Ancillary Position Functions:

 

·         Operation of large format scanner & reproduction equipment

·         Collation & shipping of drawing submittals

·         Computer equipment setup

·         Assemble & highlight submittal books

·         Perform other duties as assigned

 

Scope:

 

Responsible for the design of integrated system projects within budget and schedule and to the approval  of the customer and in accordance with project specifications, drawings, codes, and regulations. They shall create the submittal (drawings, bill of material, calculations, technical manuals, “as-builts”, etc.) and maintain the submittal during changes to the contract.  They shall perform presales or post-award engineering assessments in an effort to provide our sales force with the most cost effective solution for both material and labor.  Work directly with Project Engineers, Application Specialists, CAD Operators, Installation Technicians, Contractors and Owners.

 

Impact:

 

Direct impact on meeting project specifications, project schedule and customer satisfaction through value engineering, project quoting and order processing.

 

Minimum Qualifications:


Associates Degree in CAD Drafting or 2 years work experience using AutoCAD.

 

Excellent computer skills.  Knowledgeable with AutoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
