14-057: Aeromechanical Engineer II, Associate

  • Conducts general engineering and design of aero-mechanical systems on UAVs including development, testing, and documentation.
  • Design aircraft tooling from component/subsystem specifications.
  • Develop CAD drawings for components, use industry standards to generate drawings, and maintain detailed drawing trees.
  • Conduct engineering analysis required to size/design/integrate/fly aircraft systems.
  • Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and vendors/suppliers in the design of components, processes and tooling.
  • Use established engineering drawing configuration control systems.
  • Support flight test operations; some traveling may be required; write ground and flight test procedures.
  • Support design reviews, development of manufacturing procedures for designed tooling and components and fabrication of tooling and components.
  • Supports transition of development projects to production through testing and documentation.
  • Build and test prototype systems in order to validate designs.


Required Skills:
  • A BS degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Structural Engineering, or related field or equivalent is required; MS is a plus.
  • 0-3 years in aerodynamics, mechanical systems, structural analysis, material properties, vehicle flight dynamics.
  • Hands on design/build experience; UAV experience is a plus, especially very small scale UAVs (sub 1 lb), R/C airplanes, or other miniature robotic systems.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD software, Catia experience also desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills - Team Player.
  • Familiarity with composite aerospace structures design and manufacture is a plus.
  • Must be willing to work on government contracts and ability to obtain security clearance is required.
  • Experience programming in C/C++ desired.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work well with others across disciplines.
  • Able to excel in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Has respect for profit and strives to meet project schedule and budget.
  • Able to comply with company's policies and procedures.
