Operates independently to:

Operates computer equipment, performing tasks and running applications as per defined schedules and procedures.

Monitors equipment operation and performance according to defined schedules and procedures.

Provides shift coverage Day or Night Maintains daily checklist and status logs Performs first level hardware and software trouble shooting within the Data Center.

Provides help desk support as required.

Escalates problem situations and operational concerns to the appropriate level of management.

Responsible for documentation and follow up of operational problems encountered.

Performs special computer operation projects as assigned by computer operations lead or shift Mgr.

Fills in for Lead operator, as needed directing activities of shift performing turnover etc.

Assist in the training of other operators.

Must have 2+ years of experience working as an IBM mainframe computer operator. Training or certifications from IBM related to mainframe operations would be helpful. Must have inherent knowledge of IBM 96XX, ZOS/OS-390, STK tape storage systems and CA-Unicenter products. Knowledge of RS6000, Unix and AIX would be a plus. Open systems and mainframe monitoring skills are needed.

 

 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 Ability to operator Xerox 4635 and Eps180 printers.

 

Associate' Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent work experience).

 

Capable of working in the print/distribution area which requires ability to stand for long periods of time as well as moderate lifting.

 

Shift work 3 -12 hrs days. Or 4 –9 hour days. Shift could be night or day Shift.
