Controller for Mahoney’s Garden Center

Mahoney’s Garden Center’s new Controller, will have retail industry experience, which will give the expertise to complete the installation of our new financial computer system and to quickly understand essential operations of the company.  This person will help the company design and deliver reports and systems that will help our management team build company efficiency.

The Controller’s responsibilities will include:

• The systems development described above.


• Managing and motivating a five person headquarters finance team and the store “Controllers” who provide financial and inventory data to headquarters.


• Providing timely and accurate reporting


• Ensuring solid financial and inventory controls.


• Recommending and implementing improvements in the company’s systems and administrative procedures.

The winning candidate will have:

• Retail experience in accounting.  Management experience preferred. 


• An BS or BA in accounting


• 5 or more years of experience with integrated G/L control and information systems.


• A resume that includes a history of good interpersonal relations coupled with a reputation for hard work and effectiveness.


• Experience in supervision of internal audit and office administrative functions.


• Experience with Sage MAS500 a plus
