Description:
Under general direction of the I2B2 Technical Team Leader, the incumbents primary responsibilities will focus on the I2B2 and related projects specifically related to clinical image data. This position will report to the Technical Team Leader of the I2B2 and will work directly with I2B2 staff as well as other research and Partners teams, and external customers. This individual will work primarily managing data and performing data analysis, QA and integration.

The extraction, transformation, and loading of large amounts of data will be designed and implemented by this analyst. Emphasis will be upon workflow management, error processing, and metadata integration. Significant amounts of SQL and SSIS programming are required.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Data Analyst will be responsible for creating, analyzing, integrating, managing and documenting large and complex health care data sets in a data warehouse environment. The analyst will also be responsible for managing the return of data to research and business customers and assist customers in the use of the data. This includes data integration activities and the gathering and documentation of functional and technical requirements for enhancements to I2B2 data sets, metadata and services. S/he will need to work with other team and project staff to gather data and improve processes for data procurement and metadata support. Responsibilities in this area will also include QA and Version Control for I2B2 technical products and services.
The incumbents responsibilities also include creating and editing web pages to update data statistics, performing metrics analysis, defining data types, and administering IRB detailed data requests and data marts. S/he may assist clinical investigators in using I2B2 data sets by assisting users in basic analysis and interpretation of their data sets.

In addition, the Data Analyst will be responsible for planning of and analysis for new data integration. The analyst will be expected to document data types within the warehouse and other operating and technical documentation as it relates to data integration and support. His/her primary focus will be on the development and support of I2B2 staging areas and databases.

Activities related to quality assurance and control will also be in the domain of responsibility for this position. QA activities could be for application, metadata structures and data validation. The Data Analyst will be expected to create, perform and document quality assurance of I2B2 processes and data sets. This includes the creation and documentation of test scripts and stored procedures for product and data integrity.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Healthcare related field, or equivalent knowledge/experience
- 5+ years of experience, preferably in healthcare IT
- One - Three years experience working with large relational datasets
- Minimum one year experience constructing and executing SQL queries for analysis, troubleshooting and editing of data sets
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare concepts
- Proficiency in MS Access, Excel and SQL Management Studio required.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required
- Ability to design and implement systems that manage complex data flow
- Familiarity with error handling and error flow
- Familiarity with SQL and construction of stored procedures
- Familiarity with metadata management
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Programming
- Proficiency with SQL relational databases, Management Studio Tools, including SQL analysis programming skills. Strong PC skills required, including knowledge of PC applications and MS Office suite including MS Access and Excel.
- Knowledge of hospital and clinical information systems
- Self-motivated, able to learn quickly, work independently and on project teams, and be flexible in a multi-site environment.
- Strong, demonstrable analytical/problem-solving skills and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects, and with competing timelines.
- Understanding of Data validation and QA principles and their utilization
- Experience reading, interpreting and writing technical documentation, test plans, functional and technical specifications
- Excellent problem-solving ability with attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
