ART MANAGER

About the Job

FELD ENTERTAINMENT, Inc., the world’s largest producer of live family entertainment, including Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey® Circus, Disney On Ice, Disney Live!, Doodlebops and Feld Motor Sports is searching for an Art Manager to work at our world headquarters in Vienna, Virginia.

This person will manage process, traffic and materials for large multi-part consumer product development projects for ice, stage, circus and motor sports properties, including generating status reports and monitoring job tracking. Oversee daily production within Creative Services, including partnering with Director to establish and maintain identifiable graphics standards and high levels of accuracy. Monitor progress on projects and identify potential scheduling issues, including becoming expert in use of PDQ system and helping to manage staff usage of same. Ensure successful implementation of project direction from beginning to final art. Proof interim versions of designs and specs sheets for accuracy before final approval round. Open files, proof, assess technical accuracy, manage corrections, and sign off on all final art before release to PD. Help faciliate communication between department and colleagues so that projects may proceed smoothly, including troubleshooting and follow-up detective work. Provide backup support for Director during travel/absence. Assist in the writing and preparation of reports and documents such as RFPs and presentation materials. Research, design and produce graphic solutions for specific special projects (such as development of new products and processes).

 

 

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelors degree in graphic or product design, project/traffic management or relevant field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 7+ years experience as designer, art manager, project manager and/or traffic manager, showing progressive growth in management and design skills in professional design/production environment, such as in-house creative services department or advertising agency, where deliverables were created within budget and time constraints.
  • Hands-on expertise in management of multiple projects in fast-paced deadline-oriented environment, including being able to organize materials, allocate time, juggle priorities, communicate effectively to colleagues, resolve problems, proof accurately, track progress, and report status.
  • Strong management, organizational, written, conceptual, problem-solving, design, technical and communication skills. Ability to handle multiple competing tasks, prioritize effectively, and follow up on loose ends without becoming overwhelmed. Ability to articulate thoughts clearly both verbally and in written communication. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Capacity for understanding big-picture scenarios and how to balance competing needs (design vs. cost vs. time, etc.), and ability to stay focused on target track. Ability to illustrate ideas and prepare concept drawings in traditional and electronic media.
  • Hands-on expertise in graphics software (including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and specialized technical knowledge (import and domestic manufacturing processes, including model sculpting, injection and rotation molding, offset and screen printing).
  • Professional portfolio of samples and resume illustrating accomplishments in areas of expertise listed above.
