Position Title:              ATG Application database administrator

Reports to:                   executive director, DELIVERY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performance aspects of SDLC

·         Support system architecture to ensure meeting of performance goals.

·         Perform code review (DB related) of application each Sprint to identify and resolve possible performance issues.

·         Document technical details of issues resolved and assist the team with building and maintaining technical repositories.

·         Develop SQL Performance Coding standards and conduct training for Developers.

·         Author industry best practices articles in terms of Database usage and performance.

Database Sizing:

·         Conduct requirements analysis to determine database sizing.

·         Validate sizing during load tests.

·         Performance tune database to optimize sizing.

·         Recommend solutions to application to optimize database sizing.

Production Performance Maintenance

·         Periodically Monitor Production databases from performance issues.

·         Perform analysis of DB reports and proactively identify expensive SQLs and other performance bottlenecks.

·         Communicate critical production performance issues to DBAs and Developers.

Performance Outage Analysis:

·         Perform root cause analysis of Database/SQL performance problems.

·         Recommend a solution for Production as well as Release environments.

·         Write up and communicate solution and verify that it is implemented correctly.

·         Provide support for urgent performance issues in production environment as required.

Miscellaneous

·         Assist in DB & tools setup and maintenance on development servers.

·         Keep abreast of new and upcoming performance related DB features & tools and evangelize their use across IT teams.

Essential Skills, Education and Work Experience
 

·         Right blend of DBA and Performance tuning for over 6 years with Oracle.

·         In-depth knowledge of Oracle Cost Based Optimizer.

·         Clear understanding of Oracle architecture.

·         Working knowledge of application development with Java and ORM tools.

·         Proven expertise in tuning Oracle Databases for high transaction, multi-TB sized Databases.

·         Proven expertise in optimization of Oracle SQL Queries.

·         Previous experience tuning any commerce application a plus.

·         Previous experience tuning ATG based commerce application a huge plus.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information

Travel is required.
