About the Job

Electronic Components Manufacturer is looking for Sales Engineer who has 2 to 5 years related experience.  

Position:  Sales Engineer

Location: Framingham, MA

General Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing and expanding existing customer accounts to bring in continued business and to prospect new customers through marketing research. The incumbent must be able to perform a wide range of direct sales duties while also handling various important sales support administration duties. While gaining new business, the incumbent is expected to protect current customers from loss to competitors.

Essential Job Functions

Sales Development: Prospecting, Qualifying and Presenting Activities
  • Researches, collects and analyzes information on prospective customers to qualify them for new business opportunities.
  • Prepares and delivers informative presentations to prospects on their products.
  • Collects and analyzes information on established customers to qualify them for repeated business opportunities.
  • Establishes and maintains current and potential customer relationships.
  • Visits potential and existing customers to identify new technical applications/business opportunities.
  • Identifies future customer product applications/requirements and actively communicates this important information to appropriate US and Japan personnel.
  • Recognize and resolve customer concerns, quality issues by coordinating with management and factory in Japan.
  • Work closely with new and existing customers to maintain and achieve sales growth.
  • Studies and researches competitors and their products to identify their weaknesses so the company can take advantage and attain new business.
  • Communicates all-important competitive information obtained from customers or others to appropriate to the US office and/or Japan office.
  • Expected to participate in marketing activities such as attending and assisting with exhibit trade shows and promotional events.
  • Prepares sales reports, activity reports and forecasts for management planning purposes.
  • Communicates Company’s priorities and production capacities to appropriate US personnel.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, US management and Japan headquarters.
  • Generates orders, request for quotes, shipping status, reports, sales reports, and Q. A. reports for assigned customers.
  • Process order entries, delivery control, and essential sales support functions.
  • Maintains a customer record/file system on an on-going basis shared by other colleagues as needed.
  • Follows up on order payment delinquent accounts upon request by credit department.

Sales Support/Administration

  • Back up for entire customer service support such as order entries, RFQ’s, product delivery schedule, etc

Other and Miscellaneous
  • Seeks constant improvement, more efficient and less expansive ways and means in work processes.
  • Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Manager.
  • Maintains high ethical standards in the work place.
  • Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisors for solution.
  • Maintains good communication with supervisors, other staff members and outside contacts.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.

Job Requirements

  • Office productivity software (intermediate to advanced skill level): SAP, Excel, WORD, PowerPoint and similar software

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience
  • B.S. in Business Administration or similar area and 2 to 3 years related experience; or 5 years experience in electronic component sales.
  • Ability to read and interpret piece part product drawings. Certificates / Licenses
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license and evidence of insurance.
