CN is currently looking for a dynamic professional for the position of Account Manager in its Sales – Bulk Commodities (Grain) group.
POSITION: Account Manager
LOCATION: US Midwest (Chicago area preferred)
DEPARTMENT: Sales & Marketing – Bulk Commodities – Grain and Grain Products
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Understands customer’s business, markets, logistics chain(s) economic structure and future directions.
Ø Develops CN business strategy for customers, including depth of relationship, markets/services we do (and don’t) wish to provide, and ensures CN is well positioned as customer changes/evolves.
Ø Develops and delivers new growth opportunities resulting in new rail business.
Ø Leads all CN interface with customers in assigned portfolio
Ø Develops and handles all business negotiations with customers, within approved parameters and strategies.
Ø Has market knowledge and understanding of leverage to produce best results. Provides customer intelligence to segment leaders and market managers.
Ø Highly responsive to external and internal communication requirements.
Ø Defines service requirements and coordinates all aspects of client service delivery.
Ø Ensures adequate measurement processes are in place and appropriate follow through on results.
Ø Top-level problem solver.
Ø Customer advocate that can communicate and represent the customer’s business needs, priorities and policy positions as appropriate within CN.
Ø Develops relationships at all levels within the customer organization – can navigate from production floor to Executive suite. Responsible for improving customer satisfaction results.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø Bachelor Degree or MBA an asset (specialty commerce/marketing).
Ø Minimum of 8 years sales experience.
Ø Entrepreneurial self-starter – capable of “pushing the envelope” of customers relationship/opportunities.
Ø Knowledge of agriculture, grain and/or other commodity markets a plus.
Ø Prior experience in railroading and/or other transportation sectors beneficial.
Ø Logistics/value chain knowledge.
Ø People skills, effective with a wide range of people within customer and CN organization.
Ø Negotiation skills.
Ø Process analysis/management skills.
Ø Able to manage multiple, complex interfaces with customers in a largely unsupervised environment.
Ø Superior negotiating skills required.
Ø Autonomous, self-motivated, driven.
Ø Experience in a very competitive sales environment.
Ø Superior PC computer skills a must
Working conditions:
Extended hours, regular travel.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience, plus a Sales incentive bonus plan based upon sales target achievement.
