We are a multi-state provider of hospice services is seeking an experienced Accountant for the St. Louis corporate office.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.
· Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports.
· Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
· Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
· Prepare reports for local, state, federal, and private regulators, contractors, and internal management.
· Prepare accounting and related system reports accurately and completely.
· Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
· Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
· Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients.
· Resolve accounting discrepancies.
· Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
· Assist in the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's automated financial systems.
· Interact with external auditors in completing audits.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
· Four year degree in Accounting or related field
· CPA required
· 3+ years of experience as an accountant
· Experience in the hospice/healthcare industry a plus
· Must be able to work in a team environment
· Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
· Experience with QuickBooks or another accounting software
We currently provide operational, clinical, regulatory, and marketing support for our Medicare certified hospice agencies extending to 5 states: Nevada, Arizona, California, Illinois and Iowa. Position is based at home office in St. Louis, MO. This position will report to the Vice President of Finance.
