JOB TITLE - Senior Accountant


 


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – Responsible for general accounting functions including, financial reporting of operations, the supervision of the accounts payable department and support of operations.  Must be able to perform a variety of complicated tasks with little or no supervision.


 


DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:


* Supervises and directs the Accounts Payable team in the general direction of the department


* Implements and monitors compliance with company and department policies and procedures, as well as looking for was to improve procedures.


* Maintain multiple general ledgers.


* Prepare monthly journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations as required to accurately close the monthly fiscal period.


* Prepare monthly reports for key indicators and statistics.


* Assist operations, as needed with financial information requests and questions


* Distribute monthly reports to appropriate operations personnel.


* Prepare monthly reconciliations for all Balance sheet accounts, including documentation to support all balances.


* Participate in development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections


* Perform timely internal compliance audits for Purchasing, and Accounts Payable including testing key controls and maintain the documentation associated with this.


* Code Accounts Payable invoices and obtain appropriate approval signatures.


* Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.


* Respond to requests for information from Corporate, Internal Audit and other internal management.


* Maintain strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and / or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure.


* Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.


 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


* Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices sufficient to identify and describe accounting systems and sub-systems


* Knowledge of the financial accounting process


* Knowledge of research techniques to analyze and evaluate financial data and information


* Knowledge of accounting information systems


* Knowledge of business units that affect the accounting function such as Treasury, Receipt Entry and Accounts Receivable.


* Proficiency with PC-based spreadsheet and word processing programs


* Effective organizational skills


* Ability to analyze financial reports


* Ability to prepare statistical and narrative accounting reports


* Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately


* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written


* Ability to work well with others


* Ability to organize work independently and consistently achieve reporting deadlines


* Ability to interact with other individuals at all levels of management


 


 


 


EDUCATION


Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in accounting or other business–related field.


Additional related experience would be considered in lieu of a completed degree program


 


EXPERIENCE


Three to four years of progressive accounting experience; preferably in a clinical trial research or healthcare-related environment.


Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of healthcare accounting experience.
