Texas Auto Carriers, Inc. is a local trucking and towing company that provides transport and towing services for autos, trucks, and equipment in the Texas, Okla, NM & LA areas.  We are a 25 yr old family owned business.   We currently have an opportunity for an experienced mid entry level Accounts Receivable/Billing person.  The person in this position would be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of accounts receivable transactions including invoice preparation, auditing, cash application, credit card processing, collection, maintaining a balanced AR Ledger, assisting with related account reconciliation, closing the month and sending out accurate statements.

Duties Include:

• Processes invoices in accordance with procedure including heavy data entry and proof reading skills 
  
• Ensures that incoming checks and credit card payments are posted to the appropriate account in a timely and accurate manner
  
• Prepares debits and credits as appropriate and submits to management for approval
  
• Researches and reconciles invoice discrepancies in a timely manner and recommends resolutions
  
• Prepares and mails customer statements
  
• Receives and responds to all external and internal customer inquiries
  
• Ensures accounting processes are followed and makes recommendation for process improvements
  
• Calls on past due accounts each month and updates management on their status.
  
• Apply credit for invoice to drivers payroll sheet for payroll processing
  
• Other office duties as needed

Knowledge and Skills

• 2 - 5 years experience in an accounts receivable or similar capacity
  
• Previous experience in the transportation industry with dispatching knowledge
  
• Working understanding of GL accounting as it relates to the accounts receivable function
  
• Demonstrated commitment to customer retention and team work
  
• Demonstrated accounting problem resolution with strong research capabilities
  
• Ability to perform computations with reasonable speed and accuracy
  
• Ability to perform basic spreadsheet preparation and maintenance in spreadsheet software
  
• Ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal formats
  
• Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision
  
• Ability to maintain flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines  
  
• Ability to work multi-task and establish priorities
  
• Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment

• Ability to operate telephone, photocopier, fax and computer workstation
  
• Strong follow-up skills
  
• Ability to work with drivers and customers in a trucking type of environment 
  
• Hands on Working experience with accounting software package (Great Plains, Quickbooks, etc.)
