The Acoustic Engineer V will be responsible for performing the 3-D acoustic analysis of inlet liner performance and design on nacelle components and engine nozzles using the ACTRAN, NAVIER-STOKES codes in our Specialty Analysis team environment. Successful candidate must have the ability to plan and execute projects from start to finish, independently, with limited data and with minimal input from customer. Prior turbofan engine experience with Variable Area Nozzle test experience is highly desired. Candidate will interface with engine customer and air-framer to ensure that the product design meets the engine acoustic area requirements and installed noise requirements. Candidate may travel to meet with customer and present results of analysis and make recommendations. Candidate plans and execute scale model tests, engine tests and flight tests at specialized facilities as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Physics or related discipline and 10 + years of experience or a Masters Degree and 8 + years of experience.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in ACTRAN (or equivalent) CFD, CAA, Fluent (or equivalent) ICEM (or equivalent) modeling tools required.
Wind tunnel and acoustic rig scale model testing experience required.
Due to ITAR restrictions US Citizen or Permanent Resident / Green Card Holder required for this position.
Preferred Requirements: (Any or some of following would be beneficial)
Experience with flight noise prediction, noise propagation and liner impact assessment methods, CFD or CAA methods
Experience in classical and / or aero-acoustics
Experience in computer programming (i.e. FORTRAN, Visual Basic, other )
Experience in acoustic testing (test planning, instrumentation specification, test execution, data reduction)
Experience in developing analytical methodology
Experience in gridding (ICEM CFD, or other)
Familiarity with nacelle acoustic structure, design, and fabrication
