The Actuarial Business Analyst III completes very diverse and complicated projects and performs very complex actuarial studies.

Specifically, this individual will lead the monthly calculation, QA, analysis, communication, and presentation of normalized expense trends; with assistance from one or more analysts. Additionally, the Actuarial Business Analyst III will interface with IT associates, providing requirements for and conducting user acceptance testing on database and report modifications. A strong command of the following technical skills are highly desired: SQL programming (Teradata), SAS (Proc SQL & Macro), & MS Excel.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Analyzes and implements risk contracts including conducting experience analyses, pricing, filing and settlement work; and prepares management reports supporting new capitation initiatives. Assists in training of actuarial trainees, analysts and specialists. Coordinates/directs special actuarial projects.


Requires a BS/BA degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related field; minimum of 5 years related experience in an actuarial environment performing financial reporting, rate development, evaluation of risk contingencies and trend projections; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Experience specific to group insurance or health insurance environments or graduate level related education may also be used to offset some years of experience. Proficiency with SQL programming (Teradata), SAS (Proc SQL & Macro), & MS Excel, preferred.
