Position Description:

Potential Locations: Richmond, VA; Brentwood, TN; Lynchburg, VA
Internship Start: May 2010

Summary:
Genworth Financial’s Actuarial Internship Program provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands on experience in the actuarial field while developing a wide variety of technical and interpersonal skills. Interns will work with top Actuarial Leaders in one of several Actuarial departments throughout Genworth and will be given challenging work assignments designed to stretch their abilities. Throughout their 12-week internship experience, interns will develop a network of peers and mentors that will be a constant source of encouragement and advice. At the end of the summer, successful interns who are rising seniors will have the opportunity to interview and receive job offers for the full-time Actuarial Leadership Development Program before returning for the fall semester.

In addition to the work experience, Genworth encourages participation in the various networking and community service events that it sponsors. Interns will also have the opportunity to take advantage of various professional development and technical classes that are delivered by the Genworth training staff. Interns relocating to the area will be given a housing and relocation stipend to help with their expenses.

Requirements:
* Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field
* Minimum or better 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale
* High aspirations for a career in the actuarial field
* Strong mathematical background
* Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communications
* Scheduled or have taken and passed one actuarial exam considered a plus
