The Position:
Leads research efforts in cyber security through contractors and cross-functional teams. Plans and directs schedules and monitors budget/spending. Organizes the external and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget. Conducts some research directly. Supports the activities within EPRI’s cyber security laboratory.
Job Functions:
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to industry issues and gain input on needs from members and identify current and emerging technical issues.
- Actively involved in industry cyber security activities such as the NIST CSWG, NERC CIPS and UtiliSec
- Provides a technical service to EPRI customers and develops research or services opportunities of value to them that fit EPRI’s mission and capabilities. This will include solving customer problems, producing insights and information vital to the members, and delivering information in a manner that members and customers can and will apply.
- Provides support to EPRI cyber security laboratory
- Identifies the most qualified internal and contractor team to complete the work. Selects contractors, frames statements of work. Directs the work of the team to assure technical and financial milestones are met.
- Provides assistance to the EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International.
- Maintains technical expertise and good national and international technical networks with manufacturers, consultants, academia and research organizations.
- Communicates strategies and results, written and verbal, to program membership and potential members through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences.
Ideal Candidate:
- Background in cyber security technologies, strategies and implementations
- Working knowledge of enterprise IT security technology.
- Strong writing and presentation skills. Solid computer skills and attention to detail are essential
- Experience in the electric utility industry
Education Level and Years of Experience:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electric Engineering or Communications required.
- A technical degree or Bachelor’s may be adequate if related experience coupled with relevant professional certifications reflect requisite expertise.
- Work experience in cyber security and internetworking technologies
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
