Background
To honor Ronald Reagan on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth in 2011, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation will develop a team of professionals to honor America’s 40th President through various events and activities. The Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration staff will coordinate with the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission, other federal, state and local governmental agencies, corporations, non-profit organizations, academic and civic groups to honor President Reagan during his 100th birthday year. No federal money has been appropriated for this celebration, so the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation in Simi Valley, California has agreed to carry the burden of fundraising, financing, creation and execution of all aspects of the Centennial events and/or related activities.
Position Available
The Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to the Executive Director and Office of the Centennial Celebration to support and execute national and international events and initiatives for the centennial year.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a key member of the team, the Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director and will be responsible for assisting with: executive and team support, scheduling and calendar management, travel management, expenses and budget, arranging logistical support for the team, data base management, communications among the Centennial team, file and records management, follow-up reporting and event support. This position may involve some travel.
The duties will include: writing, typing and proofing correspondence and related materials such as electronic dictation as requested. The incumbent will attend meetings and take notes, answer telephones, route callers, take messages, monitor mail and e-mail, and provide assistance to internal and external interactions with the Executive Director and Centennial staff. The incumbent will perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of database management, Microsoft Word, Mac, IPhone, BlackBerry, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
This is a non-exempt full-time position (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), with some evenings and weekends required, and an increased number of hours as the Centennial events demand. The position will conclude at the end of 2011/beginning of 2012. The position will be located at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, Simi Valley, California, with other members of the Centennial Celebration team.
