ATK Armament Systems is the nation's largest producer of commercial and military ammunition and a leading provider of gun systems, propellants, and advanced energetics. ATK is expanding, and we are actively seeking to add several key members to the product development group within our research and development environment.

This position requires creativity, scientific insight, constant learning and knowledge development within a fast paced dynamic environment. The Aeroballistics Engineer will perform interior, exterior, and terminal ballistic analysis on projectiles to support Integrated Product Teams in the design of new and advanced technology products. In this role you will:

• Participate and support failure analysis investigations
  
• Support test engineering in development of test procedures
  
• Correlate test results with analysis
  
• Perform ballistic sensitivity analyses to support determination of design and manufacturing process robustness
  
• Develop advanced design concepts for next-generation products to improve product reliability, performance, cost and quality

The position requires strong analytical skills, hands-on experience, as well as strong presentation and interpersonal skills. Minimum requirements include proven experience in Aeroballistics Analysis, Projectile Analysis, Internal Ballistics Analysis, Fluid Dynamics, Structural FEA, and Thermal Analysis. A Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or equivalent is required. Regardless of discipline, candidates must have solid foundation in Aerodynamics, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, and theoretical calculation. Knowledge of standard FEA software (Nastran, ABAQUS, etc), CFD fluency and experience with Projectile Ballistics (PRODAS) highly desirable as is knowledge of Pro/E. Proficiency in CFD analysis.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance.
