Aerospace & Defense Director of Sales & Marketing

Our client, one of the leading manufacturers of specialty testing equipment for the Aerospace and Defense industries, has an immediate need for a Director of Sales & Marketing in Pittsburgh.   Our client is a well established company with a unique opportunity that will allow the ideal candidate to be a part of the management team and participate in the company’s future growth. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of marketing and sales experience selling to the Aerospace and/or Defense industries.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Ø  Direct sales/marketing activity with assigned staff members

Ø  Develop new prospects and interact with existing customers to increase product sales

Ø  Review customer inquiries and respond /or assign to sales engineers

Ø  Routinely visit customer facilities (domestically and internationally) for inquiries and new product sales or negotiations

Ø  Plan and attend tradeshows and conferences to promote new products and increase market share

Ø  Prepare and present forecasts and sales strategies to management

Ø  Contribute to company strategy as part of the management team

Ø  Manage a team of 3-5 Sales Engineers

 

Candidate Qualifications:

Ø  Degree in Engineering required / MBA helpful

Ø  Minimum of five years in marketing and sales

Ø  Experience in the Aerospace and/or Defense industries is preferred

Ø  Ability to evaluate and interpret business documentation such as Requests for Quotations, Statements of Work, Solicitations, Terms and Conditions and Customer Purchase Orders

Ø  Experience at conducting effective and persuasive presentations at all levels,

including management and customers (strong negotiation skills)

Ø  Ability to comprehend and apply basic principles of computations/calculations

associated with job/project cost estimating, including complex budgets and job cost accounting

Ø  Must possess engaging and empathetic communication styles

Ø  Requires strong initiative and self-direction in a fast paced and result oriented job environment

Ø  This position requires a minimum of 50% travel
