Job Title: Aerospace Engineering Manager of Systems/Software
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Direct Position
Description:
- Builds, develops and manages the Systems and Software engineering resources of the global ESC team in Phoenix, AZ to effectively meet customer requirements.
- Establishes design requirements traceability, flow down requirements, develop and test
- Develops complex sub-system trade studies, algorithms and error budgets.
- Positions engineering team to execute value engineering, new product introduction, or existing product transfer to lost-cost sourcing and manufacturing areas.
- Drives the usage of appropriate Lean Product Development tools to support cost-effective technical solutions with heavy focus on platform design, reuse and knowledge-management.
- Reviews the content, thoroughness and quality of the design work generated by the department.
- Domestic and international travel of up to 10% of time.
Leadership:
-Establish and maintain employee Goals and Objectives and development plans for the team.
- Create, manage, evaluate, and operate within project and department budgets.
- Mentors and trains engineers and technicians to improve their creativity and thoroughness.
- Supports the management of engineering demand forecasting.
- Supports the development of plans for ESC strategic capital investments to align with internal customer needs.
- Supports the ESC in completion of Policy Deployment and Continuous Improvement activities aligned with business need.
Basic Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- BS degree in Electrical, Software or Systems Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in the Aerospace Industry.
- At least 3 years of management experience in the Aerospace Industry.
- Strong experience with Microprocessors, DSPs, FPGA and PLDs development.
- Complete avionics development life-cycle: requirements, design, development, integration, and qualification test.
- Experience managing a team that has developed, designed and tested according to the requirements of DO-178B Level A.
- FAA/EASA software certification and audit experience.

Preferred:
- Experience with DO160.
- Experience with high reliability controller electronics and power switching circuitry
- Development of System Description Documents, Certification Test Plans, Common-Mode Analyses, and other documents required for aircraft certification.
- System level requirements definition experience taking into account SAE ARP 4754, Fault Tree/System Safety Assessments, FAA/EASA regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are required. Customer interaction and Certification activities for new Air Data System products are critical objectives for this position. You will need to be comfortable in negotiating with Customers and Certification Authorities when discussing requirements for our products.
