Thar Instruments, a Waters Company, currently has an opening for a full time Analytical Chemist in their Research and Development Group at the Newark, DE site.

Duties

This is a hands-on laboratory position with a focus on new product and technology development and testing of Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) instrumentation.

The successful candidate will perform instrument integration, maintenance, and testing.  The duties will include performing instrument characterization and optimization studies, with concurrent wet chemistry sample preparation and analyses, and developing and validating instrument qualification protocols.

The individual will work both independently and with the R&D team in realizing their objectives, as well as supporting and coordinating with other internal functions for various tasks on project basis.

The candidate will employ chromatography data acquisition software and standard statistical and office software to analyze results and prepare reports.

This position includes the testing of instrument control software and the reporting of software behavior observations.  As needed, the candidate will support the software development, field technical support, and field service groups.

Requirements

B.S. in Chemistry with 1 to 3 years laboratory experience.

Good quantitative wet chemistry skills, and mechanical and instrument maintenance skills.

Knowledge of basic statistical data processing.

Experience with chromatography (LC, GC, SFC) and chemical analytical instrumentation and software preferred.

Method development and validation experience a plus.

Proficiency in office productivity software, and good communication skills.

Ability to work individually, and within a team environment.
