Application Architect 347012

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services is seeking an Application Architect.  The Application Architect is a strong leader with a broad and deep technology background who can develop a solid grasp of  business.  This person should be able to communicate equally effectively with business leaders and technical practitioners.  The Application Architect is also a software developer skilled in building and tuning systems with stringent performance characteristics. 

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating system architectures and technical strategies for new projects, leading software developers through application development, and keeping an umbrella view of all development within a specific customer organization. The Application Architect will work hand in hand with project managers in development of high-level requirements, milestone monitoring of technical details, and customer interaction throughout the software development cycle. The Application Architect will facilitate best practices in software development, identify training needs, and work directly with the resource manager in coordinating resources for specific projects. While the position responsibilities focus on leadership and architecture, opportunities for hands-on development may be offered. The Application Architect will also provide input and guidance on the application server infrastructure, monitoring it's health, load, and future capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business and IT staff to define high-level solution architectures and architecture best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills across both process and technical domains.
  • Strong understanding of Heath Care systems - both functional and technical.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills-ability to provide technical leadership and resolve conflicts of opinion across diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
  • Customer-service oriented and able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Identify key business and technology drivers that impact front-end underwriting and policy management solution and application architectures.
  • Provide technical direction to rest of development team
  • Collaborate with other architects and technical leaders across the organization to develop best practices.
  • Generate and maintain cross-functional roadmaps to eliminate surprises for development teams.
  • Develop conceptual system designs and implementation strategies to use for more detailed design and evaluating long-term implications of design choices.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of application/solution architect experience
  • Experience with UNIX applications (Solaris 10 preferred)
  • Healthcare IT Systems experience
  • 10+ years of professional information technology experience.
  • 7+ years of designing and implementing complex IT systems.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry trends will set a candidate apart from others.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills combined with the ability to build relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with executive and technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement business-driven application architecture capabilities in a complex environment.
  • Experience in having facilitated strategic application architecture planning (e.g. a plan consisting of current state, future state, roadmap) on multiple occasions.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical application architectural disciplines including: Business architecture, Systems architecture and infrastructure, Information and data modeling tools and techniques, Software development lifecycle, Service-oriented architecture (SOA), Object-oriented and component software engineering, Multiple-tier distributed application architecture design, Legacy mainframe platform and integration techniques,
  • Extremely proficient developing in C and SQL
  • Experience developing in Unix and Oracle 10g
  • Proven history of building high performance systems
  • Firm understanding of Software Architecture, Design Patterns, and Middleware.

 

Relocation Assistance:  The successful candidate must be able to work on site in Nashville, TN with any relocation expense to be incurred solely at the candidate’s expense.
