Application Architect
Ensures adherence to established standards and may consult with senior managers on technology solutions. Supports existing business systems applications and may be responsible for leading technical aspects of a project. May be responsible for assigning resources and delegating tasks to meet project deliverables. Works on highly complex projects and issues within functional technical area. Works more independently with IT functional units and business units. Recommends strategies for technical aspects of projects as well as broad system improvements. Coaches and leads less experienced IT staff and business managers. Provides leadership on projects. Responsibilities with regards to applications will consist of providing technical expertise and design guidance and participation in the development of and support of new and existing applications. This will mean full development lifecycle responsibilities from requirements, through Analysis, Design, Coding and Unit Testing. Possesses strong knowledge of application development technologies, tools, methodologies as well as all functional areas in IT organization. Experience with CMM project methodology is a plus. Good understanding of how technology relates to business, market and industry and applies such knowledge to support the needs of the business. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Requirements:
Must be proficient in J2EE/Java/Servlets/JSP core technologies. Must have hands-on experience with Websphere Application Servers (in an MVS environment is a plus) and Tomcat. Must be experienced in developing using the WSAD or RAD IDE*s. Familiarity with DB2 and Java Stored Procedures/DB Stored Procedures/SQL is a must. Strong knowledge of HTML and javascript is required. Must have thorough understanding of XML schemas, parsers, and processing large amount of XML data structures experience. Working knowledge of JMS, sockets, and different communication protocols is required. Knowledge or experience with C++, EJB and Unix systems is a plus.
