International Rectifier Rhode Island Design Center designs high-performance power management ICs for low-voltage high-current voltage regulators (VR) in computing and networking applications. The customer design application engineer is responsible for supporting customer project design-in activities including,
1. Validating chip-sets for customer applications;
2. Performing circuit design, efficiency/power loss calculations, control loop and transient simulation;
3. Reviewing customer schematic, BOM, and PCB layout;
4. Debugging and testing customer proto board;
5. Communicating with customer regarding design changes, test results and corrective actions.
Occasional travel is required in order to provide on-site customer support (Approximately 15% of the time)

Q1. BSEE or MSEE preferred with more than three years of hands-on experience in switching power supply design.
2. Proficient in using schematic capture, PSpice simulation, Mathcad  and Microsoft Office software.
3. Experienced in power loss calculation, control loop compensation design and troubleshooting
4. Good knowledge of active and passive components including MOSFET, high-frequency magnetics,  latest polymer and MLCC caps,
5. Familiar with high-frequency, high-current, high-density PCB layout guidelines.
6. Skilled in using lab equipment including oscilloscope, function generator and network analyzer.
7. Good communication skills, both oral and written. Self-learning, self-disciplined, and good team player.
8. Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of Design for Manufacturability is a plus.
