Southeastern Asset Management Inc., an investment advisory firm that manages over $30 billion in assets, is seeking a dedicated, intelligent, and ethical IT professional to join our company. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, managing, and supporting a wide variety of business applications with a primary focus on Southeastern’s trading and portfolio accounting systems.
This is a full-time position based in Memphis, TN. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. A candidate should have a long-term time horizon for developing and growing in this role.

Job Summary:
The candidate will be part of a team responsible for all of Southeastern Asset Management’s (SAM) business applications. This includes application evaluation, development, testing, configuration, implementation, management, and support at all of SAM’s locations. Work outside of normal business hours may be required.
Essential Functions:
- Be intimately involved with every IT-related aspect of Southeastern’s trading and portfolio accounting systems
- Continuously identify and implement new technologies to improve SAM’s computing environment
- Work with business users to evaluate technology solutions
- Partner with third-party software vendors and consultants to design and implement solutions
- Work with both internal and external team members to write scripts and develop code to solve business problems
- Implement changes and upgrades as required
- Maintain and enhance the data load processes between trading and portfolio accounting systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex, business-critical application issues under tight time constraints
- Provide technical support to end users in the US and participate in on-call support rotations for remote offices in Europe and Asia
- Develop systems, procedures, and other documentation as needed
- Partner with business users to enhance and utilize existing CRM applications
- Maintain an existing account reconciliation system
- Transfer trade data to various custodian banks
- Upgrade and maintain existing social networking applications
- Work productively and supportively with other IT members
- Assist with IT infrastructure projects as needed

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. Major in Computer Science, Math, or related scientific discipline preferred. Relevant technical certifications are beneficial.
Technical Skills:
- Operation Systems (Server Editions): Linux and Windows experience preferred.
- Web/App Server: Apache/Tomcat and IIS preferred.
- Programming Languages: SQL programming experience is preferred. A scripting language such as Perl, UNIX shell scripting or sed/awk is also preferred. An object-oriented language such as Java or C++ is helpful.
- DBMS: SQL Server experience preferred. Some experience with PostGreSQL is beneficial
- Applications/Technologies: Experience in any of the following is preferred - Fidessa LatentZero Capstone Suite (Minerva, Sentinel and Tesseract), FIX connectivity, Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) solutions, Advent APX, Other OMS/EMS and related applications.
Experience:
Previous work experience in a demanding, professional IT environment is preferred. Experience in the financial and investment management industries is beneficial. Working with applications and technologies in a trading or portfolio accounting environment is ideal.
