We have  an opening for a Sr. Applications Architect in Dallas / Fort Worth, TX.   This is a six (6) month contract.  They would like to convert you to a permanent employee after 6 months, but may keep you on contract much longer, if not converted.

Job Description - Application Architect

 

Our Client has an opening for an innovative and energetic individual to perform the role of an Application Architect.

 

The project is currently underway. The objective of the program is to migrate business applications from the legacy FOS TPF system to a distributed, messaging based architecture.  This project group provides application architecture services to the project and also the teams managing the legacy systems currently supporting operations.

 

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience with the software development lifecycle
  • 3+ years of experience in the development lifecycle in a non-development role
  • 5+ years of experience with modern technology frameworks (J2EE, .Net, CORBA. etc) in development or non-development roles
  • Experience gaining consensus on a technical solutions with a large technical audience
  • Experience maintaining, presenting, seeking approval, and monitoring conformance to technical architecture documentation
  • Experience integrating COTS applications
  • Experience working with outsourced development teams
  • Experience architecting/implementing large scale, highly available IT systems
  • Experience with Object oriented analysis and n-tier system design
  • Use of relational databases

 

·         Candidate should be able to take a business problem and turn it into a solution.

·         Candidate should have been an architect before

·         Need a solution architect but hands on experience as well

·         Good understanding of Integration Architecture- COTS Application

·         .Net and Java/J2EE are listed but it’s only because the manager wants a candidate that has a broad knowledge of technologies. Our client is a J2EE shop so if a candidate just has .Net then they will not be a fit.

·         Manager is not looking for an architect who was a part of a team but rather a sole architect on at least 2 or 3 projects.

 

 

Desired Skills:

  • Significant experience in requirements analysis and Use Case development.
  • Exposure to systems integration practices and message-oriented middleware solutions
  • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture principles and practices
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

 

Responsibilities:

Work with business leaders and analysts to understand functional and non-functional requirements while crafting a technical solution leveraging company and industry best practices and standards

Author technical architecture documentation utilizing the 4+1 Views, design patterns, data models, and conceptual models of the proposed solution

Serve as the lead architect at the architectural review board seeking approval for proposed technical solution

Collaborate with the development teams to refine and confirm the usefulness of the architecture during construction

Improve understanding of the technology landscape and trends

Drive the architectural roadmap to leverage upcoming tools, standards, and technologies

Develop proof-of-concepts and perform research associated with new technologies and frameworks.

Industry Knowledge:

 

Preference will be given to candidates with airline business experience, particularly in the area of flight operations.

 

Experience as an enterprise architect in a large multi-line of business organization is strongly preferred
