Applications Engineering Technician
SUMMARY:
Applications Engineering Technician is a multi-tasking position in a fast-paced environment, requiring attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to make quick decisions and act on them. Responsibilities include managing customer returns and failure analysis, product applications testing, technical support for Customer Service, and assisting the Sales staff with technical inquiries and requests. In addition, this position will also support offsite lighting projects, direct field technical support, and trade shows.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform troubleshooting and Root Cause Failure analysis of LED based lighting fixtures.
- Develop and maintain records for documenting field failures.
- Perform testing of LED based lighting fixtures, including optical, thermal, mechanical, electrical, and controls compatibility testing.
- Provide direct customer support for technical issues and requests, including phone, email, and direct jobsite support.
- Provide technical support for product demonstrations and trade shows.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- AAS in Electronics or Equivalent
- 5+ years experience in a product development or testing environment
- Must be able to lift 65 lbs. on a consistent basis
- Ability to work individually or in a team environment
- Good troubleshooting skills, and root cause analysis experience.
- Ability to travel
- Good communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office suite, including MS Access
- Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline
- Flexible schedule to accommodate weekend work.
- Experience in technical support, in a customer service environment.
- Valid Electrician’s license.
