GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide industry expertise and oversee quality control on residential appraisals used in the underwriting and funding of loans at W.J. Bradley Mortgage Capital Corp. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of the job, in order of importance, and an estimate of the percentage of time spent on each responsibility (the main function of the job may or may not be the one where the most time is spent). Time spent codes are: “C” constantly (>60%), "F" for frequently (20-60%); "O" for occasionally (<20%).

Reviews existing appraisals submitted by third party appraisers for the purposes of determining accuracy of estimates of fair market property values, using data such as location, market trends, public records, and actual property data such as design, construction and condition; notifies the Chief Credit Officer of those appraisals which do not appropriately reflect market value | C |
Provides an escalation path for internal appraisal disputes initiated by WJB Loan Officers; reviews existing appraisals for accuracy and market appropriateness, and works with the Chief Credit Officer to determine a course of action should the appraisal be out-of-line with the market | F |
Assists the WJB management team in researching problem assessments | F |
Creates and distributes routine third-party appraisal quality control reports to the management team | |
Acts as the WJB liaison between the AIA department and third-party appraisers | C |
Provides professional and industry expertise to the Operations Department; acts as an internal resource for appraisal-related issues that arise during the underwriting and funding of loans | C |
Utilizes industry resources and publications to maintain a current knowledge of and expertise on the national real estate market and residential mortgage trends | |
Provides other professional and industry expertise as required; may be responsible for other work-related duties as assigned | O |
REQUIREMENTS:
The skills, abilities, or knowledge needed to perform the functions, and an indication of whether each is required, preferred, or acquired. Codes are “R” required, “P” preferred, “A” acquired.

Five years experience as a retail residential appraiser required; must have experience on a national level, with focused experience in the western United States strongly preferred | R |

Experience with the proprietary software systems of Nile and Tigris | P/A |
Bachelor’s degree in real estate sales, appraisal and finance, or related field preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required | P/R |
