Role Summary/Purpose
The Architect – Small Grid Software primarily focuses on defining and architecting software products to address the critical functions and information flows in Smart Grid applications. The initial focus will be on AMI head-end systems and Synchrophasor Data Concentrators. This is accomplished by facilitating, supporting, and defining requirements across products, programs and deployment services.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop system designs, data models and provides technical reviews and guidance for development teams
  • Some C# / C++ code development is expected
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions, demonstrating product capabilities to customers, partners and integrators

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other
  • Minimum 3 years experience in at least 2 disciplines, including but not limited to application architecture, application management, application development, SOA, database design
  • Minimum 3 years structured software development experience in C# or C++
  • Minimum 3 years domain experience - Energy systems, T&D / power gen systems, electrical distribution protocols and standards or background & schooling in electrical engineering / physical sciences
  • Minimum 3 year experience in Software Development using Microsoft Visual Studio / Development tools

    Desired Characteristics
  • Cross platform development experience helpful
  • Familiar with a variety of software development life cycle process, software architectures and design patterns
  • Experience in problem solving, data structures and algorithms
  • Candidate should be a team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and influencing; excellent business analytical skills; and excellent written and verbal communications are required
  • Experience and knowledge in any or all of the following:-Transmission & Distribution software systems (EMS, DMS)-Power Generation Systems-Demand Response-Electrical Substations-Wireless data collection / AMI-EMS or DMS systems-Standards used in electrical industry CIM / IEC 61850, NERC, FERC-Exposure to development of large-scale industrial strength software -Exposure to .NET 3.5 technologies like WPF, WCF, WF, or Silver light GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a joint venture between GE and FANUC LTD of Japan, delivers automation hardware and software designed to help users reduce costs, increase efficiency and enhance profitability.
