Role Summary/Purpose The Architect - Application & Enterprise Architecture serves as the architect to develop interfaces required for IT components required to service today's business needs, maintain an awareness level of new technologies and industry players, and how changes will affect current GE needs and solutions.
Essential Responsibilities Responsible for strategic direction, evolution, design, documentation, implementation, validation, and support of critical enterprise applications / frameworks Provide leadership, motivation, and direction to IT for planning across Consumer and Industrial�s application landscape Act as lead architect on client-facing projects, ensuring solution alignment with defined organizational and industry standards Be a key member of the global team providing input into group strategy, motivation, and development and thought leadership to IT Proactively drive C&I's application architecture and on-going evolution ensuring maintenance of current stability, reliability, performance, flexibility, and capacity New technology adoption delivering new capabilities and driving value attainment for business users Plan, scope, size, architect, design, prototype, and engineer J2EE framework components Hands-on engineering of the most difficult and complex sections of the application Produce detailed functional and technical software specification documents for scalable applications Help establish and drive best practices for maximum code reuse, testability, application integration, performance, reliability, manageability and security
Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in design and implementation of application infrastructures) At least 1 year experience with Structured and Object-Oriented Software Development Methodologies including Requirements Analysis, Object Orient Analysis, Process and Data Modeling, Logical and Physical system design At least 1 year experience with software and Infrastructure Change Management, Release Management, and Source Code Configuration Control At least 1 year experience as the lead developer or architect on large Java enterprise-level web applications (e.g. 500+ concurrent users, 5,000+ total users, mission critical, high availability) At least 1 year experience performance tuning J2EE web applications At least 1 year experience in Unix/Linux, Apache, Tomcat At least 1 year experience in LDAP and Siteminder At least 1 year experience in Unix scripting ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act Be 18 years of age or older Willing to submit to a background investigation and drug test as part of the selection process Willing to work out of an office in Visteon Village, Van Buren County, Wayne Township (near Ann Arbor / Detroit) Please submit your application for employment through GEcareers.com to be considered Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work.
