About the Job
Art Director elisco advertising is looking for a conceptually strong art director with solid production skills. Three to five years advertising agency experience. Appreciation of a cafe-lifestyle a plus. To learn more about elisco, visit www.elisco.com . The Art Director is a start to finish shepherd of cross-platform creative concepts. They must seek to extend ideas into campaigns and deliver strategic creative solutions in line with the creative map. The Art Director must thrive in a collaborative environment; encourage dialogue and deliver dynamic executions of creative concepts. A quirky spirit and energetic approach along with a love of outdoor seating is encouraged. The art director is responsible for art concepts in the production of advertising and marketing projects and campaigns. The art director works with a copywriter as a team, or receives copy from the copy department that is translated into advertising. The art director can also work as a part of a design team with another art director. The art director also can supply copy or headline concepts for a project. The team concept allows full cooperation between creative partners. Reports to the senior art director/creative director. Duties: • Designs brochures, booklets, fliers, ads, TV commercials, billboards, and more, according to strategic plans provided by creative director/account executive, and by assignment from the creative director. • Meets as needed with client service team members and interactive marketing personnel to ensure coordination between traditional and interactive advertising and marketing efforts. • Works with other art directors, copywriters and additional designated “team” personnel in production of said materials. • Works with senior art director/creative director in selection of papers, inks, vendors, models, freelancers, broadcast talent, and any and all outside sources/purchases needed to fulfill production of each project the art director designs. • Strives to meet assigned deadlines. Alerts senior art director/creative director/traffic manager if deadlines cannot be met for any reason, or if an extension is required. • Works with production personnel, providing complete input, and any instruction and supervision required to smoothly complete production of approved design. Provides all required specifications (inks, papers, sizes, etc.) to production department on Production Input Form. • Reviews all production materials on assigned projects, and signs off prior to forwarding job to traffic manager for further required approvals/outside production. • Writes copy/headlines/scripts as requested. • Art directs photography sessions, recording sessions, press-proofings, etc., and supervises freelancers assigned to art director’s projects as requested by traffic manager/creative director. • Meets with account executives/traffic manager/production manager/media as required to ensure timely, accurate completion of assigned projects. • Keeps senior art director/creative director informed of need to upgrade design-related computer hardware/software. Maintains said equipment/supplies for use in the creative department. • Has working knowledge of computer design software and hardware and strives to stay current in level of knowledge and abilities. • Has working knowledge of online advertising and is prepared to translate concepts into online specifications when required. Including web banners, social media, html email, and web delivered video.
