ASSAY DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST – Toxicology


 


Meso Scale Diagnostics, LLC. (MSD) is a rapidly growing company specializing in the field of multiplexed biological measurements, providing cost effective and valuable information for drug discovery, high throughput screening and proteomics research to scientists in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, government and academic research organizations. Located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, MSD develops, manufactures and markets cutting edge instruments and assay kits based on its proprietary electrochemiluminescence detection technology.


 


 


Position Summary:


 


The candidate will be responsible for the development program for MSD’s human toxicology biomarker assays.  The candidate will design experiments, manager research associates, analyze data and compile reports.  The candidate will also be responsible for tracking assay performance throughout development and troubleshooting when necessary.  This individual will compose and maintain product documentation, assist with creation of marketing materials, and write customer protocols.


 


 


Requirements:


 



  • Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology, pathology, or a related area.
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in an industrial research laboratory environment.
  • An advanced understanding of the biology and chemistry that underlies immunoassays.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing 2 or more associates.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with immunoassay optimization, trouble-shooting, and validation.
  • Experience developing assays for biomarkers in complex samples (e.g. serum, plasma, or urine).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on method development projects.
  • GLP experience and experience with protein biomarkers of drug toxicity are desirable.
  • A certification by the American Board of Toxicology is a plus.
  • Experience in client relations and management of contract research projects is a plus.
