Share our vision. Chicago based manufacturer located near O’Hare is searching for an experienced Assembly/Service Manager to help us grow. Experience in hand tool and small machine assembly and repair is required. You will be responsible for meeting and exceeding the company goals as it pertains to the assembly, quality assurance and repair of a line of tools and precise manual and computerized tabletop grinding machines. This position is responsible for approximately 10-15 employees.

Responsibilities/Principal Duties:

• Provide leadership and direction for assembly and service staff toward achievement of plant and company objectives.


• Help define goals based on historic data.


• Work on cross training and waste reduction in all forms; implement Lean Manufacturing principles in terms of inventory reduction, quick changeover and maximized efficiencies.


• Ensure appropriate staffing for operations of these departments.


• Identify and solve problems.


• Communicate effectively with other departments and customers.


• Focus on providing the highest quality products.

Qualifications: to perform this job successfully an individual MUST be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Minimum 5-7 years assembly experience, preferable in machine or small tool assembly. Demonstrated supervisory and project management experience. Experience and knowledge of basic mechanics, simple electronics and computer functions.
