GENERAL SCOPE: The Asset Engineer identifies performance issues and develops creative solutions for a growing wind and solar energy company with 500+ employees and locations across North America. This person will work closely with the VP of Asset Management, as well as Operations and Asset Managers from multiple facilities, and has responsibility for supporting projects across several regions with a goal of maximizing profits/returns. Company is a vertically integrated, independent, renewable energy company with an established, stable parent company that enjoys the autonomy of a much smaller organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage diagnostic process to identify production shortfalls and develop solutions to repair/enhance wind and solar power assets in conjunction with Operations and Asset Managers and third party vendors
· Work with Technical Services Group on all Asset Management and technical specifications.
· Maximize return/generation while staying within contractual agreements
· Research new technologies for control systems and present them to management
· Reviews all contract documents/agreements for assigned existing owned projects or third party contracts
· Oversee and coordinate with O&M team creating monthly reports for senior management team for regional enXco owned projects or third party projects; create reports for Vice President of Asset Management and/or Board of Directors
· Work directly with Vice President of Asset Management, Development team and O&M team during project development stages to ensure Owner considerations are addressed.
· Support the transition of projects from the Development process to Asset Management
· Ability to lead or assist with rollout of user based software systems
· Prepares operating budget projections, cost benefit analysis and production variance reports
· Provide data and reports to other personnel and departments as requested
· Attend trade shows, conferences, meets with government agencies, OEMs and other equipment suppliers
· Works with Vice President of Asset Management to research and recommend new industry opportunities and opportunities to improve current assets’ production and performance
· Lead daily repair cost/replacement analysis, payback analysis, and various other financial analysis’s
· Extensive travel (up 50% but no weekends) to various locations throughout North America.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Vice President of Asset Management and designees.
EXPERIENCE:
· Prefer undergraduate degree in Engineering, or related discipline. MBA is highly desirable.
· Working knowledge of process and equipment used in the independent energy sector
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
· Strong presentation skills and ability to interact with multiple departments, vendors and upper management.
· Strong organizational and project management skills
· Understanding of Maximo, Osi Pi
