Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Asset Protection Manager is responsible for teaching, coaching, and training associates to ensure the effective execution of the core Asset Protection, Operations and U.S. Retail Store Playbook initiatives. They are responsible for executing core programs and strategies relating to theft and fraud mitigation, operational excellence, safety and environmental compliance in The Home Depot stores (within assigned district) without adding complexity to the store’s operation. They must be able to multi-task across stores within a designated district and gain the partnership of the store Operations Assistant Manager and other store associates and leaders to achieve goals. The APM must remain focused on district specific business objectives as outlined by the District Ops Manager supporting key AP and Operational initiatives.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Shrink - Review and analyze store shrink performance; identify associate behaviors and/or operational issues through exception-based reporting and CCTV that may cause shrink; identify trends; make recommendations for improvement; teach, train, and coach associates to effectively handle opportunities; monitor corrective action. Complete internal & ORC investigations throughout the district. Conduct internal theft investigations and interviews in partnership with Human Resources. Prepare detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner. Monitor criminal cases, appear in court and testify.
Operational Excellence – Teach, train and coach associates with operational process improvements across district. Support stores to help simply their tasks and remove non-value added tasks. Evaluate operational processes for areas of opportunity. Perform regular follow-up walks of identified deficient areas; execute game plans, communicate with Store Management on progress, partner with Store Managers to improve leadership and performance in partnership with Human Resources.
Safe Work Environment - Follow-up, support and resolve safety, environmental, and regulatory issues as assigned by the District AP and Ops Manager. Assist in supporting safety awareness and compliance in stores, including assistance with Worker’s Compensation claim process. Use data to identify trends that may lead to accidents and make recommendations for process changes or improvements.
Team and Associate Development - Assist with the development and retention of hourly AP and Ops associates, in addition to all store associates.
NATURE AND SCOPE
LI> Position reports to District Ops Manager. Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years in retail industry or Home Depot equivalent. Relevant work experience in any of the following
fields: Store Operations, Asset Protection, Safety, Environmental, Law Enforcement and Military
Multi site experience (6-12 locations) with 1,000+ associates
Analytical, with knowledge and experience in operational, sales and management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of retail Asset Protection, Operations, and Safety processes, programs and procedures.
Ability to work cross functionally to identify solutions to mitigate shrink, theft, and fraud and create safe work environments
Highly developed communication skills, both written and oral.

Strong analytical and financial analysis skills.
Ability to teach, coach, and train associates to drive change and execute process improvements across region.
