Bilingual (English and Japanese) Product Development Specialist
An international food company is seeking a qualified candidate who has a strong interest in food industry. Qualified candidate must have strong English and Japanese communication skills and computer skills. Candidates with food nutrition, food science background would be a big plus, but not mandatory for this position
Location: North Orange County, CA
Direct Hire
Salary: $27600 - 36000/yr (DOE)
Business Hour: Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:30pm

Responsible for developing new products by researching current trends in food industry and also continually improving current products by analyzing consumers’ information.
Development:
· Research current trends in food industry
· Conduct market trend analysis and analyze that information to materialize a plan to create new products
· Conduct sample cooking
· Make a presentation at various meetings (e.g. monthly sales meetings, NP meeting and project meeting).
· Act as a main contact person to some professionals such as lawyers and overseas food labeling consultants, translators, third-party certification organization and etc.
· Develop new vendors for new products
· Make plans for the packaging for new products
· Examine selling method
· Plan and carry out consumers’ tests (home use test, tasting test, & conceptualization) –make analysis out of these findings and reanalyze the product planning
· Plan and carry out development project with other companies
· Develop packages for new products-make concepts, copywriting, FDA compliance, design, shooting, coloring, printing process
· Assist Japanese HQ to develop import products. Translation from Japanese to English is required for this task.
Improvements:
· Research and examine consumers’ complaints /opinions and apply that information to improve current product
· Check and verify product nutrient ingredients on continuous basis
Basic criteria requirements:
· Must be bilingual- English and Japanese and (read & write)
· Must be computer efficient; word/excel/power point (Photoshop-preferred)
· Must have a 4 year college degree
· Must be keen to trends; able to gather information and make analysis; ability to plan and organize and schedule activities associated with production runs
· Ability to work with limited supervision; maintains confidentiality; excellent time management skills; work well in a team environment; must have inquisitive mind
