POSITION SUMMARY- ASSISTANT CATEGORY MANAGER- BAKEWARE DIVISION
The Assistant Category Manager is responsible for assisting the Category Manager in bringing unique and innovative products, within their product category, to market in a timely and profitable manner.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEASUREMENTS
Communication
The Assistant Category Manager must communicate with the overseas offices and suppliers with regard to the development of new products and packaging while ensuring on time delivery of all samples and products.
The Assistant Category Manager must also communicate with many departments within the Company in order to efficiently bring new products to market.
Execution
The Assistant Category Manager is responsible for creating and disseminating all collateral materials needed for product launches.
Information Systems
The Assistant Category Manager will be expected to exhibit proficiency in PDS, SAP, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Inventory Management
The Assistant Category Manager is responsible for monitoring the category’s inventory as directed by the Category Manager. This will include setting up all new items, reviewing forecasts from the sales force, working with procurement to ensure accurate product ordering, and disseminating all discontinued and overstock lists on a monthly basis.
Competitive Products
The Assistant Category Manager should understand the competitive environment in order to ensure his/her success. He/she should visit stores on a weekly basis to keep up to date on what competitors are doing and become familiar with all retailers’ needs.
Teammates
The Assistant Category Manager must understand the needs of other categories within the Division and be ready to assist to maximize sales and profit for the entire Division.
