Under
the direction or in the event of the absence of the Store Manager,
the Assistant Manager Merchandising is responsible for the overall
operations and performance of the store.  You lead, manage and
coordinate activities for a staff of 10-20 sales associates and provide
customer service.  Your success is measured by your ability to train
and direct your associates in setting goals, implementing plans of
action, and problem solving.  You develop visually exciting
presentations for new, advertised and seasonal merchandise, working to
drive sales in the store.  You implement inventory control methods to
ensure successful audits and inventories.  You ensure the success of
your store through communicaiton with your associates and management
team. 
 
In summary, under the direction of the Store Manager, you are responsible to:
  • Meet and exceed all budgeted sales, margin, and profit expectations of the store
  • Ensure maximum
    sales and profitability through management of merchandise, inventory,
    expense control, human resources and shrink.
  • Set an environment in which people want to succeed.
  • Maximize
    all merchandising initiatives, by meeting timely processing of product,
    fully utilizing mark out and damage programs, scanning and pricing
    programs, and all other initiatives set to help minimize loss of store
    revenue.
  • Support and implement all sales driven Company initiatives and programs
  • Comply with all Company Policies and Procedures including all Asset Protection, Human Resource and Store Operation Policies.
  • Communicate and execute all productivity and operating standards set by the Company.
  • Recruit, train, and develop store associates so that the common goals of the Company as well as the personal development of the associate can be met.
  • Complete any and all other duties as assigned by management

 

Job Requirements
  • Minimum
    of one (1) year prior retail experience with a minimum of 3 months in a
    managerial role and/or managerial training or the equivalent
    combination of experience and education.
  • Strong working knowledge of retail operations and be able to work independently with limited direct supervision. 
  • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Multi-task oriented and able to prioritize
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with customers and all levels within the company
  • Strong
    people and interpersonal skills to handle divers customer and associate
    relations concerns in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Ability to coach, lead, develop and motivate store associates
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and software applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook 
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude
  • High school graduate or equivalent GED, bachelor degree preferred
