Assistant Operations Manager - Stetson Wind

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to oversee the efficient and safe operation of the wind turbine facility. This also includes assuring and documenting compliance with all codes, regulations, and contracts.

Principal Responsibilities

Administrative
Track and report hours worked weekly (due each Monday morning)
Track and report expenses monthly and provide original receipts
Provide daily overview report to Operations Manager
Maintain accurate records of all field activity and turn into Operations Manager upon job completion.
Oversee day to day operations of the wind facility
Manage scheduled & unscheduled maintenance of the following wind farm equipment:
Wind equipment and met towers
Substation including transformer
Electrical collection system
Roadways
Other non-turbine site improvements and all other Balance of Plant assets

Interface on a daily basis with turbine supplier/O&M provider to verify their compliance with scheduled warranties and maintenance.
Responsible for operations of substation equipment
Interface with local utility company for scheduled and unscheduled outages and other plant operational issues.
Responsible for providing all necessary reports to the Operations Manager.
Site inspection forms
Photographic records
Equipment inventory and parts usage
Coordinate with Operations Manager for error reports
Attend department meetings and other functions as directed by the Operations Manager

Operations & Maintenance
Confirm equipment requirements for WTGs with the Operations Manager
Prepare parts requisitions, order and receive all parts and equipment
Perform necessary Balance of Plant work when required
Establish and update required spare parts list for wind equipment and BOP
Establish and update required special tools list for wind equipment and BOP
Confirm appropriate safety procedures are followed at all times
Conduct regular safety meetings and document discussion
Track and record all WTG downtime events
Track and record all repair parts usage
Track and record all substation events
Enforce minimum 6-hour notice from O&M provider prior to WTG shutdown for all non-emergency events
Enforce minimum 1-hour notice from O&M provider prior to WTG RTS
Confirm WTG downtime for maintenance reduces energy loss per protocol
Secure bids from sub-contractors as required
QC, O&M and repair activities as directed by the Operations Manager
Perform all other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager

General
Manage third party repair activities to insure FIRST standards are met or exceeded
Travel as required to perform QC, O&M and repairs as directed by the Regional Operations Manager or Operations VP.
Maintain all tools and equipment required to perform QC, O&M, repairs and preventive maintenance as described above.
Perform other work as directed by Regional Operations Manager or Operations VP

Qualifications

Secondary Technical Education or comparable certifications preferred.
5-10 years industrial experience, power generation preferred.
2-5 years supervisory experience.
Budget / Project Management experience.
Contract execution experience.
Government regulation compliance experience.
Organized, leadership skills.
Proficient Computer and Software Skills
No physical limitations.
