Qualifications
Merrimack College’s Girard School of Business and International Commerce is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in its Department of Finance to commence August 2010. The candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Finance from an AACSB accredited institution or have an expected completion date by August 2010. Specializations should include but not be limited to the areas of financial management, international finance, and investment management. Candidates must document evidence of excellent teaching capability and competence and strong potential as a researcher within their specialization. Candidates must display a willingness to be active in the College and academic departments and community. Teaching experience is imperative and professional experience highly desirable. The successful candidate must be able to teach within all the areas of the finance discipline at the undergraduate level.
Candidates must meet three critical criteria to be recommended for tenure: teaching effectiveness, scholarly achievement, and service to the College. Satisfactory performance must be achieved within each criterion.
Responsibilities
The teaching load consists of three 4 credit courses each semester. The curriculum is based on AACSB standards. Academic advising, service to Business School committees, and service to the wider College community are required of a successful candidate. Candidates are expected to have a strong research agenda. The Finance Department has requirements in Corporate Finance, Investments, Financial Analysis, and International Finance. Electives include Financial Services and Planning, Advanced Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management and a variety of Special Topics including Risk Management and other contemporary topics.
The Business School has six major concentrates: Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Management, International Business and Sport Management. The Girard School of Business has an enrollment of approximately 750 students and the Finance Department currently has approximately 90 concentrates.
