Assistant Project Director


Primary Function: To oversee all aspects of regional educational training including A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE Institute and related educational initiatives. To market, coordinate, adapt and deliver local training programs tailored to the local community. This position is based on New England and serves Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont region. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

*Market, coordinate and implement anti-bias programs for local and regional educational institutions and other organizations. Coordinate local related special events and projects including program launches, campaigns, and conferences.

*Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a cadre of per-diem trainers.  Coordinate schedules and assignments. Maintain related expense records and prepare required reports.  Oversee evaluation efforts.

*Develop community relationships and network with educators and organizations to facilitate effective delivery of education programs.  Collaborate on programming with partner agencies.  Respond to routine inquiries and prepare correspondence.

*May attend, participate, and provide staff support in lay-led task forces and committees such as the Education Committee and ADL Regional Board meetings.

*May implement other related ADL education programs and projects, tailoring them to fit the region’s educational needs.  May personally conduct some training sessions and workshops.

*May oversee the regional budget for education and dedicated education grants. May write proposals, conduct solicitations, and assist in fundraising to support local programs and services.

*Provide assistance to regional staff on other education programs, special projects, and events.

*Participate in the smooth functioning of the region by attending regularly scheduled staff meetings. 

*Integrate work activities with the work of the region as a whole.

*Represent the local and national office at external conferences, seminars and meetings. Prepare and deliver speeches. Write press releases and respond to media inquiries.

*Participate in other ADL activities as required.

*Supervise the work of per-diem trainers.  May oversee the work of support staff.

 

Qualifications:

*A Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Training or equivalent work experience.

*Two to five years of progressively responsible community service experience including education program management experience.

*Experience with educational systems and education practices. 

*Strong interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills. 

*Comfort with public speaking. 

*An understanding and appreciation of diversity and early childhood issues.

*Computer skills including word processing and database management applications. 

*Bilingual language skills a plus. 

*Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary to represent ADL, conduct training sessions and attend community events. 

*Some travel within the region.
