SHPS also houses the unique Urban Health and Wellness Center, a Clinic that provides services for the underserved and serves as a model laboratory for student and faculty research and learning. The School of Health Professions and Studies is a growing School. Our new Dean is leading us through growth into the future. We seek a dynamic Assistant to the Dean who can support and promote this growth.
The Assistant to the Dean is a high level position within the School of Health Professions and Studies. The Assistant to the Dean will perform administrative duties for the Dean, including matters of a highly sensitive and confidential nature and is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and actively engaging in and providing leadership in grant activities including grant writing and grant development. The person in this position will take the lead on preparing and maintaining the School’s budget, preparing documents for promotion/tenure recommendations, and catalog updates, as well as working on recruitment, and assuring the School’s website is up-to-date. The successful candidate will work closely with senior faculty, take the lead on projects within the School, and participate in the management of the School as a member of the team. They will serve
as an ambassador of the School and the Urban Health and Wellness Center, leading in the shared vision of SHPS and the smooth operation of the school.
This position is available for a creative, self-starter who is willing to work at a high level capacity. The ideal candidate will have experience in leadership and management roles, with experience as a liaison to community groups. He/she will have experience with grant management, grant writing and /or grant development.
Other responsibilities of importance:
- Assist with personnel functions within SHPS, assuring compliance with affirmative action and safety programs
- Initiate written correspondence requiring interpretation of policies and procedures
- Participate in the management team and faculty meetings and various SHPS committees; coordinate follow-
up actions
- Supervise grant administrative processes
- Manage activities related to accreditation, self-studies, annual reports, and business continuity plans for
SHPS
- Act as liaison to the Administrative Director of the Urban Health & Wellness Center
