Assistant Transportation Manager


Goodwill Southern California is looking for highly motivated candidates to staff key positions at our San Bernardino Facility! This Assistant Manager will be responsible for receiving, handling and shipping goods to our retail locations and clearance centers. Maintaining a safe and organized work area, through direst supervision of drivers and dock workers.

We are seeking



  • Energetic, outgoing personalities who are motivated and enjoy working with a diverse group of people.

  • 2-5 years managing a diverse workforce in the shipping and receiving industry.

  • Hands on leadership style.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Knowledge of retail shipping and receiving operations, human resource and loss prevention processes.

  • Class A drivers license a plus.

  • Bilingual is a plus.

  • Maintain excellent store/driver relations.

  • Provide a clean, fun and safe and organized environment for their employees.

  • Maintain an organized work area in a fast paced environment.

  • Keep all equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions, preventative maintenance and addressing malfunctions immediately.


  • Responsible for directing drivers and dock workers.

  • Solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.

  • Good organization skills with attention to detail.

  • Ensure all appropriate safety and security policies are being followed

  • Ability to resolve day to day routine problems as they arise.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and implement detailed instructions/plans in a timely and efficient manner, working independently and with others.

  • Use computers and technology for information, and to access information necessary to complete all required paperwork, records and reports.

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and policy/ procedures manuals.

  • Effectively communicate in English, with customers and store personnel. Bilingual is a plus.

  • Monitor, coach and counsel drivers and dock workers, regularly.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50lbs; walking standing, stooping, bending, squatting and kneeling.

  • Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including weekends and holiday shifts.

  • Ability to operate equipment used; to include trash compactor, forklifts, balers and assisting with delivery routes utilizing bobtail and class A vehicles.

  • Clean driving record, valid proof of CA driver’s license and proof of insurance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
