TITLE:
A leading topical products developer and manufacturer has created a new position - Assistant Vice President - Director of Research & Development. This person will lead and manage a staff of scientists responsible for the development of generic topical dosage formulations from concept through technology transfer.
This is a ground floor opportunity with an exciting, privately held, profitable company which was established in 1983 to investigate and develop pharmaceutical products effective in the treatment of lifestyle and quality of life.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Manage new product development activities, assign projects to appropriate teams and provide direction to solve complex drug development issues.
- Actively participate in and direct the activities of scientists responsible for the development of topical pharmaceutical dosage formulations from concept through technology transfer.
- Be responsible for product development planning, goal setting, project cost estimating, strategic planning, and staff organization and development.
- Ensure a smooth transition with pilot plant scale-up and technology transfer, working closely with manufacturing to resolve technical issues.
- Support clinical and regulatory affairs efforts, and the preparation of technology transfer documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pharm.D. or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry or related field.
- A minimum of five years of pharmaceutical industry experience in the development of generic prescription topical pharmaceutical formulations.
- Demonstrated capabilities in project development, team leadership and goal achievement.
- Prior or present management experience with expertise in the area of ANDA filings with the FDA.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to make presentations to director-level management.
