The Assistant to the Director/Operations Manager for the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy will support the director and other staff to implement the projects of the Center and manages the core operations of the center. S/he will also: organize, implement and publicizes Center events; provide administrative support to the director and the Graduate Certificate Program for Women in Politics & Public Policy; serve as liaison with key constituencies on and off campus including legislators, faculty, community groups, advisory board, etc.; manage the Center’s budget including input of purchase orders, personnel actions, monitoring budget expenditures and projections as well as administration of grant funds; develop, implement and monitor office systems that manage information flow, the status of action items and communications; serve as initial point of contact for the Center; coordinate staff conferences, board meetings, staff meetings etc.; develop communications and public relations with various parties; act as a representative for the Director by attending meetings regarding the operations and general function of the Center and its events; coordinate the Director’s calendar, correspondence, meeting preparation, travel, and expenses; schedule multi-participant meetings; work with Dean’s office and other departments as needed; act as a liaison between the Director and the department’s staff members; and manage Center’s files, databases, meeting minutes, media clippings, and other information critical to the Center’s operations.

 



Bachelor’s degree required with 1-3 years relevant experience. Demonstrated fiscal/administrative abilities. Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus. Experience with event coordination. Proficiency in MS Word, MSExcel, and MSAccess (or FilemakerPro) required. Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently. Well organized, productive, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment.
