Job Overview

The Associate Director, Social Media Strategist is primarily responsible for using their expertise in the social media arena to unleash the marketing potential locked within every day conversations around our client’s brands.  This role requires a highly motivated, self-starter with a strategic vision of the social media landscape and a game plan to infuse social media best practices across all aspects of the business.  This job entails leveraging this unique knowledge and expertise to develop sound social strategies, identify trends, and create and implement best practices. He/she will maintain regular contact with mid-level clients and has the initial level of responsibility for account profitability and business development. 

 

The Associate Director, Social Media Strategist is also responsible for supervising the junior team members that work on his/her assigned accounts.  As the supervisor, they will provide key strategic input for media plans and review draft plans.  This job also requires recruitment of junior team members as well.

The Associate Director, Social Media Strategist would initially be dedicated primarily to the team.  The hope is for this position to evolve into something greater that will eventually work across multiple client accounts in the mid to long term.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop a standard set of tools and best practices for measuring social media that will be deployed throughout the different Mindshare clients engaged in social media.
  • Quarterback and consolidate weekly reporting for the client incorporating input from the different Mindshare stakeholders.
  • Develop ROI models around Social Media engagement and prioritize projects based upon a solid business case as well as determine a guidelines for evaluating benefits and risks for certain Social Media engagements
  • Evangelize Social Media throughout the Mindshare employees and develop a Social Media evangelist team to germinate Social Media principles into all clients of Mindshare.
  • Participate in writing agency POVs, thought pieces, case studies, and new business initiatives.
  • Maintains day-to-day client contact and partner agency contact regarding their area of responsibility
  • Responsible for training, development, and evaluation of junior staff at the Manager, Senior Associate and Associate levels in addition to providing oversight on the development of plans and presentations and providing interpretation of the competitive and other research data

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, PR, business administration, and communications
  • 3-5 years in the advertising or marketing space
  • Conversant with current and evolving Social media strategies and measurement technologies
  • Able to articulate a vision for the Mindshare and clients around Social Media and develop the appropriate ROI models for investing in this space. 
  • Comfortable championing social media to senior executives as well as coordinate the activities across multiple stakeholders within our clients including but not limited to: media, brand advertising, public relations, corporate relations, sales, customer service, and outside agencies/partners.
  • Able to blend the right mix of art and science in this exciting emerging field of Social Media. Must have an entrepreneurial drive and the leadership skills to rally people around a common goal despite being in different departments and reporting lines.
  • Ability to work successfully with teams, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to effectively utilize social media research, monitoring tools and reporting resources
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Strong analytical abilities and quantitative skills, including math proficiency
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to articulate, write POVs, industry thought pieces, and presentations
