The Bard Graduate Center is a graduate research institution committed to studying the cultural history of the material world. Established in 1993, the BGC now includes both Master's and Doctoral level programs with related exhibitions and programs for the public.
Bard Graduate Center is currently accepting applications for a full-time Associate Director of Finance. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes competitive benefits. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance and Administration. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the organization's budget, audit and general ledger reconciliations. BGC has an annual operating budget of $11 million.
The Associate Director must be both a strategic thinker and a practical problem solver. The successful candidate will have specialized financial skills and accounting knowledge, familiarity with financial software applications (spreadsheets, Banner, a plus), and must have a friendly, flexible, collegial work-style.
Additional responsibilities will include:
* Developing and tracking annual fiscal plans
* Creating and presenting quarterly financial projections.
* Tracking revenues and expenses relative to projected budgets.
* Posting general ledger entries and reconciling all general ledger accounts.
* Supervising the processing of all bills, checks and expense reimbursements.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree, advanced degree and/or CPA preferred.
* Five to seven years of experience with increasing management responsibilities in a complex, dynamic environment such as an academic setting or a similar not-for-profit organization.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high-level of discretion and confidentiality.
* Ability to work independently and strong interpersonal and communications skills.
* Able to explain complex financial matters to colleagues with non-financial backgrounds.
