Associate Internal Auditor

Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. (stock ticker SCHN), is a fast growing company based in Portland, Oregon which operates in the scrap metal recycling, steel manufacturing and auto parts industries.  We are offering an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, business oriented professional to join our progressive Internal Audit Team.

You will be an integral part of our audit team responsible for the performance of control testing, internal audits and special projects.  Enjoy autonomy while still having access to knowledgeable colleagues to support you in your work.  You will work closely with management at all levels of the company to evaluate the adequacy and application of internal controls within our vertically integrated company. 

The ideal candidate will have:

·         Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting

·         2 years minimum audit experience in public accounting or internal audit

·         Demonstrated experience with principles, practices and techniques of accounting and auditing

·         Practical experience in understanding and testing internal controls

·         Proficiency in the development of objectives, audit programs, work papers and recommendations

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to travel up to 20%

·         CPA or a CPA candidate is preferred
