Princeton HealthCare System is currently searching for an full time Associate Laboratory Director for the University Medical Center at Princeton.
The Associate Laboratory Director is primarily responsible for providing operations management and policy implementation to fulfill hospital goals and laboratory operation department’s strategic objectives. Working closely with the Administrative Director, it includes effectively communicating information, utilizing resources to maximize productivity, outcomes and financial performance. This position will be heavily involved in the development and maintenance of the Laboratory Outreach Program. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
· Provides leadership to fulfill Hospital goals and laboratory operation department’s strategic objectives.
· Actively supports and expedites the flow of information to all necessary parties to create a work environment in which communication is timely, direct, honest and respectful of all parties.
· Guarantees technical compliance and competence across all departments.
· Effectively manages resources to maximize productivity, outcomes and financial performance of Hospital Laboratories.
· Complies with applicable regulatory (CLIA, HCFA/OIG, FDA, TOSHA/OSHA) and accrediting (CAP, JCAHO, AABB, NJ State) agency requirements.
· Promotes and maintains positive relationships with all contacts.
· Complies with all Hospital policies and procedures.
· Contributes to the fulfillment of Hospital objectives.
· Contributes to the fulfillment of Hospital objectives using effective leadership skills.
· Knowledgeable about the Millennium Cerner I.T. Computer System and actively uses the system, to generate necessary management reports and is able to train new and current staff on it’s appropriate usage.
· Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the department; collaborates with other caregivers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and service.
· Maintains standards of confidentiality.
· Designs, coordinates and promotes the Laboratory Outreach Services.
· Maintains and serves as liaison between laboratory and clients to solve laboratory orders, billing problems, result reporting, and provides support with respect to special concerns.
· Maintains effective communications with Patient Financial Services in order to assure effective Outreach billing and collections as they apply to contracted clients.
· Insures front office is staffed adequately daily.
· Markets the laboratory’s outpatient services through direct contact with physicians, nursing homes, schools, and other health care facilities by telephone as well as in person.
· Maintains Outreach agreements as liaison between laboratory and clients with respect to level of service, billing issues, and result reporting.
· Coordinates Laboratory Couriers, in regards to specimen pick-up and delivery services.
· Prepares and submits a activity analyses of all Outreach services to the Administrative Director.
· Responsible for marketing new business relationships to Outreach clients.
· Maintains and in charge of problem resolution to existing accounts.
· Acts as a liaison to accounts for Medicare part A billing.
· Makes account visits to insure customer satisfaction.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science. Certification (ASCP or NCA) preferred. Masters degree in Health or Business administration preferred. Five years total experience required. MT ASCP preferred. A minimum of 2 years experience in a managerial capacity in a clinical complex laboratory setting or equivalent abilities.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, human resource experience, knowledge about personnel laws, and leadership skills. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
