Product Development Responsibilities:
- Manages end-to-end development process for adult/kids/infant/active apparel in North American business unit.
- Collaborates with internal partners (Design, Category Management, etc) and external resources (agents, suppliers, mills, factories, etc.) to optimize product development life cycle.
- Negotiates prices to achieve gross margin targets.
- Knowledge/experience required in the fields of knit and woven manufacturing and associated levers to drive development (e.g. fabric development, dying, construction, materials, duties, etc).
- Value engineers products to meet financial objectives in collaboration with design leads.
- Partners with Global Quality and Safety Organization to insure products are manufactured to Regional, Federal and State regulations.
- Develops sourcing strategy.
- Develops rules of engagement (flexibility and responsiveness).
- Develops vendor relationships.
- Monitors vendor KPI's (Key Performance Indicators).
- Monitors product category trends.
- Recommends product piece types for development and inclusion in the line.
- Drives and owns category profitability targets and optimization (PTC inputs).
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum five (2) years of direct responsibility for apparel sourcing and negotiations.
- Extensive knowledge in garment manufacturing (e.g. knitting, sewing, dying, etc) and component sourcing/manufacturing (e.g. yarn development, trims, fabric development, dying, etc).
- Extensive knowledge of Asian and developing market apparel sourcing.
- Proven track record in developing strong vendor partnerships while achieving financial objectives.
